Thing #27 - Twitter

I signed up for Twitter awhile ago and have not used it much. It seems that there are so many different online things to get sucked into and it is hard to find time for them all. I have a myspace page but have not really done anything with it for quite some time. I have been trying out Facebook and that is pretty cool because I have made contact with people I had not been in contact with for ages. There is a Twitter-like update feature in facebook where people can put updates in but there are many other features so at this point I guess I find I don't really need both Twitter and Facebook. I am open to learning more about it though and perhaps trying it out some more. Oh yes, my name on Twitter is: Sonicfreak.

Thing #26 - Ning

I just joined the Ning. I did not join it in the first round. I left a comment for another member and uploaded a photo. I looked at the groups but have not joined one yet. It seems like this could be useful for sharing ideas, keeping in touch with other librarians etc.

RIP Lux Interior

Today is a dark day. The lead singer of the Cramps, Lux Interior, has passed away at age 60. In the liner notes of the Cramps' "Gravest Hits" record, he was described as "the psycho-sexual Elvis/Werewolf hybrid from hell." He is survived by his wife and longtime collaborator, the beautiful and deadly Miss Poison Ivy.

Thing 25 - Bloggers Toolkit

I played around a bit with adding gadgets to my page. I added a "subscribe to" link. I also added the "Salvador Dali Art of the day" since he is my favorite artist. I added a CNN politics feed because I like to follow the political ticker. I also added a youtube search box. I'm not sure if I really like the way these look on the page. They add all this white space and have some ads but are fun and/or useful too. I'm sure I will continue to play around with how things are organized and add/drop gadgets as time goes on. Oh yes! As you can see I learned how to post to the blog from email and even add a photo. That is really slick!

Publishing From Email

This is a test to see if I can publish something to my blog from email. I think I'll  also attach a picture and see how that shows up.
